Are YOU into cycling up and down the hills round Holmfirth and the Holme Valley? All set for the massive Tour de France? If you’re an enthusiast, a meeting is coming up for you which could help to promote and join up cycling throughout the region.
The special “think tank” is taking place to share information and find out if there is a desire for the wide range of cycling activity in the district to be co-ordinated.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday February 27 in the Reception room of Huddersfield Town Hall. Refreshments will be available from 6pm and the meeting will start at 6.30pm.
The event is being organised by the West Yorkshire “go:cycling” project, an initiative of Metro and local authorities to encourage and support more adults to take up cycling.
Supported by Department for Transport through the Local Sustainable Transport Fund, go-cycling offers a range of free cycling services, including one to one and group training, bike maintenance and group rides.
The special guest will be John Dennis, the original chair of ‘Cycle Bradford’, who will explain the background and how grass-roots cycling activity has taken shape in Bradford.
The organisers of the meeting would like to attract a wide range of interests from cycle sport to cycle training, and cycle safety to cycle route design and so on. Non-cyclists and ‘would-be’ cyclists are also invited as the organisers would like to know what will persuade people to give up their cars and travel by bike.
Please contact the Kirklees Cycling Officer email@example.com if attending to give the organisers an idea of the numbers of people attending.
