Residents in Holmfirth and the Holme Valley and surrounding areas are being invited to save hundreds of pounds on their gas and electricity bills by joining a new regional cost-cutting project.
Kirklees Council has joined other local authorities in Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield and York to work with Community Energy Direct and consumer champions Which? to seek the best possible deal from the energy companies.
Everyone who lives in the Holme Valley can sign up for the deal which works in the following way:
• Households would register to switch energy supplier
• Their details are passed to Which? who then invite the energy suppliers to put forward their best deal.
In addition to the possibility of cheaper energy, those signing up will have access to information on how to reduce their energy consumption, as well as energy saving products.
Cllr Mehboob Khan, Leader of Kirklees Council, told the Holmfirth website: “The more who register, the more likely we are to get a better deal from the energy suppliers. Households can register without making any obligation to switch by making a local rate call to 0845 4502581 or visiting http://www.communityenergy.info
