A public inquiry is to take place to decide on the controversial Tesco plans for Holmfirth following an appeal by the supermarket giant against Kirklees Council’s refusal of planning permission.
The Tesco’s issue resulted in the largest ever postbag to Holmfirthweb.com as opponents, and supporters, emailed the Holmfirth site with their views and comments. Opponents also set up a campaign “Keep Holmfirth Special” with its own website.
Although the dates and details of the Inquiry have not yet been set, Kirklees are inviting residents to submit their views online at the planning portal website or via email, in triplicate, quoting reference APP/Z4718/A/13/2191213
The planning portal websites is www.planningportal.gov.uk/appeal (search for the case reference number), or via email in a Word or PDF format to team P16@pins.gsi.gov.uk
People and groups will also be able to attend the public meeting and, at the discretion of the inspector, give their views. A spokesman pointed out: “The inspector will not allow any interruptions or bad behaviour.” The Holmfirth website will publish the date and details of the Inquiry as soon as its announced.
