Breathtaking Holmfirth Snow Photo – from the Air
Posted by patrick under: News .

As the Big Thaw starts getting underway across the Holme Valley tonight (Friday January 15) and the majority of roads start returning to normality, here is a breathtaking reminder of last week’s amazing Holmfirth White-Out.
This fantastic photo, snapped from the clouds, shows Huddersfield Road and Sands recreation ground between Holmfirth and Honley. You can see the swimming pool, police station, doctors’ surgery together with other local landmarks.
Some of the higher parts of the Valley are still covered under at least several inches of snow, and the A6024 Holme Moss Road together with the A635 Greenfield Road remain closed tonight.
Temperatures are due to continue rising over the weekend – but some emails to Holmfirthweb.com from local residents suggest there could be more of the white stuff towards the end of next week. Some areas of the Holme Valley are still waiting to have their dustbins emptied.
We hope to publish more aerial snow shots soon – please keep checking our pages.

Stunning photo! Where did you get it from? Do they have any covering other local areas?
