Grant Help for Valley Organisations
Posted by patrick under: News .
Holme Valley groups can now apply for funding assistance from Kirklees Council’s Environment Grant Scheme for 2010.
The scheme aims to support projects which protect and enhance the environment and reduce carbon emissions for the benefit of the people of Kirklees. It seeks to encourage projects which involve communities in tackling climate change, and encourage groups to develop creative and sustainable projects which enhance the natural environment in the rural and urban areas of Kirklees
Community and Voluntary groups and not for profit organisations with ideas to improve the local environment are invited to submit applications to the following funds:
· Small grant – up to £1,000
· Medium grant – up to £3,000
· Large grant – up to £10,000 for exceptional projects which will demonstrate innovative, sustainable benefits for Kirklees.
The deadline dates for small and medium grant funding are: Friday May 7; Friday July 16; Friday October 8; and Friday January 7, 2011. The closing date for the large grant funding is Friday May 28. The grants can be used as match funding. All applications must demonstrate value for money.
Cllr Mehboob Khan, Leader of the Council and Cabinet member for the environment Unit told Holmfirthweb.com: “The Environment Grants Scheme enables local groups to make a real difference to their natural environment, for the benefit of the whole community. I would urge organisations, who want to make real a difference to where they live, to get in contact and find out more about the funding available.”
For an application form or further information about the grant schemes, please contact Allison Porter at Kirklees Council Environment Unit on 01484 223558, or write to Kirklees Council, Environment Unit, 23 Estate Buildings, Railway Street, Huddersfield HD1 1 JY, email environment.unit@kirklees.gov.uk or visit the following website www.kirklees.gov.uk/environmentgrants
The grants are part of the council’s ambition to help reduce carbon emissions through its own operations and through assisting its communities to do so.
