New Outdoor Stage Event for Holmfirth Festival of Folk

Its nearly that time again, and not long to go, before the major Holmfirth Festival of Folk which starts Friday May 7 and runs over the Saturday and Sunday.
As locals will already know, Holmfirth Festival of Folk is an excellent community based festival which draws in a large local audience in addition to the usual ‘folk fans’ who travel around the country enjoying the many folk festivals that take place throughout the year.
Events and activities take place in the local halls, pubs and on the streets. Most of the events are free, although audiences are ‘encouraged’ to contribute to the collection buckets!
As usual the festival features some of the best names on the folk scene set to perform over the three days.
A festival organiser revealed some exclusive news to Holmfirthweb.com: “We’ve been keeping this one under our hats for a while in case it didn’t come off but we have just had news from Kirklees council that we can close the library car park for one day so…”
“We can now announce that this year the festival will boast an outdoor stage on the Saturday. Events will run from 1pm to 6pm and artists will include Harp and a Monkey, Gary Stewart, Stafford Galli, The Boat Band, Ottersgear and a selection of dance sides.
“”What if it rains?” I hear you cry. The stage comes complete with a canopy which will shelter about 100 people so come on down.”
